Who We Are
The Center for Active Living supports the physical, mental and emotional health of our community's older adults through a wide range of fun activities, programs and events. The Center is also a gateway to services that many of us need as we get older including meals, counseling and referrals to other critical social services.
We have more than 1,300 members who come to The Center to take part in a broad range of programs, activities and services. You do not need to be a member to participate in our programs (small fee to participate). We primarily serve people ages 50+.
Our goal is to meet the needs of a diverse and growing greater West Seattle community, which includes the neighborhoods of White Center, Delridge, Pigeon Point and Highland Park.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where people can enjoy warm friendships, healthy activities, joyful experiences and meaningful engagement as they age.
Our vision is a West Seattle community where everyone of every age can be supported in their goals for health, wellness and lifelong learning and stay involved with each other while living their best possible lives.
Our Commitment to Equity
Our goal is to be a safe place where everyone feels welcome. The Center does not discriminate or tolerate discrimination of any kind due to race, religion, gender identity, age, disability, sexual orientation, language, class or socio-economic status. We acknowledge that systemic racism exists, and we are committed to taking a stand against racism and intolerance.
Land Acknowledgement
The Center for Active Living is located on the lands of the Coast Salish People, specifically the ancient land of the Duwamish People. We are grateful for their stewardship of this land.
The Duwamish Longhouse is located in West Seattle at 4705 W Marginal Way SW. We highly recommend this fantastic resource to discover more about the Duwamish culture. Learn more.
Strategic Plan
Our board and staff create three-year strategic plans, with member and community input, to guide the direction of The Center. Our current plan focuses on these key strategies:
- Update The Center’s brand and image to reflect the community and work we seek to do
- Expand our programming to increase afternoon and evening options, add program offerings and serve new communities
- Identify new sources of revenue to support a future expansion of The Center in its current space
