We recently asked the team at Nucor to tell us more about what community means to their employees and how they like to give back.

What inspires Nucor to support local nonprofits and give back to the community?

The inspiration comes from a key aspect of Nucor Steel Seattle’s mission statement, which is to Live Our Culture. This culture has been built by the efforts of our teammates, day in and day out. Fostering a supportive environment that extends beyond the confines of our mill. We recognize our responsibility within the local community and understand that for us to flourish, we must ensure that others flourish alongside us.

What are some of your employees’ favorite ways to get involved?

A favorite community interaction for our team is providing tours to our neighbors, showcasing the work we are proud of and giving the community a glimpse into the heart of our operations. We also take pride in maintaining and improving our natural surroundings by participating in various clean-up events, ensuring that our presence contributes positively to the community. By fostering connections, caring for the environment and supporting local development, we are not just part of the community, we are active participants in its success.

What does the Nucor team love best about being part of the West Seattle community? 

One of the most rewarding aspects of being part of this community is seeing our products being used in local development projects. Whether it’s a new building or infrastructure improvement, knowing that we are contributing to the growth and development of West Seattle gives us a sense of pride and fulfillment.
